2024 Pinot Grigio
The Italians call it Pinot Grigio, the French call it Pinot Gris, we just call it a fantastic grape variety. With appealing flavours and a crunchy acid structure this is a variety that is very well suited to our Australian cuisine and lifestyle.
VITICULTURE
The grapes were grown on the lower slopes of the NSW Central Ranges and harvested when they achieved the perfect balance of flavour and acid. This vineyard boasts exceptional position and mature vines with the grapes showing robust yet delicate flavours.
WINEMAKING
For many years we made a Pinot Gris style but this year the fruit was picked much earlier to ensure the minerality and crisp acidity so integral to Pinot Grigio. To ensure the wine retained its fresh, lean flavours the juice was fermented with a neutral yeast in stainless steel with no oak and held on lees for only 4 weeks prior to bottling in late April.
TASTING NOTES
One of the most versatile varieties you’ll encounter, our Grigio is zesty with some honeyed tones, crisp and minerally and a touch of pear. The palate has savoury, marzipan flavours with some subtle white flower and talc aromas. Enjoy it nice and chilled within 2-3 years.
