2021 Little Gem Chardonnay
The grapes were grown in the Broke Fordwich sub region of the Hunter Valley. 2021 was a cooler year, which allowed the fruit to retain its natural acidity, delivering delicate but intense flavours and a beautiful balance.
After harvesting the Chardonnay grapes were gently crushed. The juice was then quickly separated from the skins, with only the free-run portion of the juice used in the creation of the Little Gem Chardonnay. Approximately 15% was fermented in new French Oak barriques with the balance fermented in stainless steel.
The Little Gem Chardonnay is made in the modern, contemporary Hunter style; light on its feet with lemon zest, stone fruit and a delicious crisp minerality. The hint of French oak is enough to provide elegant background support to the delicious flavours of fragrant pear and marzipan. Optimal enjoyment window 2-5 years
